What the children will learn

Our Curricuum

At Buckingham Park Primary School we provide a creative curriculum with topics based around a selection of Cornerstones Education’s Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs).

At Buckingham Park Primary, we are always looking for ways to improve and strengthen the quality of the curriculum that we offer. As part of this work, we have adopted a ‘topic-based’ curriculum, based on Imaginative Learning Projects (ILPs) developed by Cornerstones Education. Cornerstones Education are a nationally recognised approach for delivering outstanding learning opportunities for children.

We have used these ILPs as a basis for the topics that we deliver across our school. The specific learning objectives have been modified to ensure a broad and balanced coverage of the national curriculum whilst also ensuring that the learning opportunities are most appropriate for our children.

It is our belief that children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides plenty of learning challenges throughout the academic year that require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively across the curriculum.

What topics do children experience at Buckingham Park Primary.

Our topics are most often the duration of one half term, although some learning is based around a specific topic for a whole term in Key Stage 2. Below is a list of the different topic titles that are taught in our school:
