Parent Volunteers
Buckingham Park Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. If you would like to become a volunteer in school, please be aware that appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS check and references - .
We are extremely grateful to our team of volunteers who support our pupils on a regular or ad-hoc basis. This really does make a huge difference to the children and their learning. This is also a great way to gain experience, or to see if you’d like to work in schools on a more permanent basis.
If you are interested, there are a range of different jobs that you can do
- Classroom helper
- General – all pupils
- Listening to children read – one to one
- Listening to children read – groups
- Listening and attention support – playing games
- Support with Forest School
- Support with gardening or cookery
If you can offer us something different, such as running a specific club, or using a specific skill, then let us know. The application process is below.
If you are interested in doing something ad hoc (supporting a one-off event, or lending your expertise to the class for one lesson) then we would love to here from you too. Please contact the school office instead of following the process below.
Thank you for considering to take on the role of volunteer.
How to Apply
Please complete an application form, with two referees. All volunteers will have to agree to a enhanced DBS check to ensure our children and school is safe for all.
- Please complete the application form below
- Please visit the school to submit 2 x proof of ID (e.g. passport and driving licence) and proof of address (utility bill) so we can process the DBS check.
Alternatively, there is an application form below to download. Please complete and send to office@buckinghapark.co.uk or drop it into the school office.
Next steps
- Once your background check is complete, volunteers will be asked to attend the school's ‘raising awareness’ level 1 safeguarding training. This is to ensure all volunteers are aware of the school's safeguarding duties, how to spot signs and symptoms of abuse, how to report it, and safer working practices.
- Volunteers will also be asked to sign the code of conduct for volunteers, which forms part of the volunteer policy. As part of this you have to read the school’s Safeguarding Policy, part 1 and annex A of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education‘ and the Health and Safety Policy.
All of these documents are available below or in the school policy section here
We will then be able to deploy you into the school.
