Traditions and Special Events
We place great emphasis on having traditions and special events throughout the school year. This is to create opportunities for performance; to bring the school together as a community; to raise money for charity and to create a sense of belonging.
The children love these events and participation and parental attendance when required is usually very high. A typical year, in addition to PTA events, will include:
- A Spring Bonnet Parade for Reception children
- A Daffodil Breakfast - where Reception children and their families have an Easter breakfast in the hall
- A Day for Change – where something or everything changes to highlight a charity
- A Sports Day – combining competitive sports
- A Summer Fair event for children and families
- A leavers’ barbecue and assembly– for our Y6 pupils
- A cream tea for Y6 pupils and their families
- A Christmas Concert – singing carols and sharing the Christmas story
- 'Stay and Do' sessions where parents are invited to stay at school for a short while to take part in learning activities with their children in class
- Numerous sharing assemblies/’Fabulous Finish’ events, enabling parents to see what has been going on in class
- Community Games – sports competition with locality schools
- Divali Celebration
- Odd Socks day to clebrate diversity and promote kindness
