The day started with us boarding our flight to Beijing at 09:30. Upon arrival, our passports were stamped and we were warmly welcomed to China.
We designed and created our own Chinese dragon lanterns and money wallets. These are symbolic of the Chinese New Year celebrations, which falls on Monday 8th February this year .
Year 3 took part in a great Chinese experience day which was lead by four expert trainers from the Chinese Cultural Centre in Brighton.The day helped to get their spring term topic 'Kung Hei Fat Choy' (which means Happy New Year) off to an exciting start.
We learnt a Kung-fu routine with varying degrees of success!
Chinese writing is called calligraphy. They do not use letters, they use characters. There are an amazing 7000 characters for children to learn before leaving primary school!
Our fine motor skills were certainly put to the test whilst trying to master the skill of using chopsticks.
Everyone had a very exciting cultural experience. All the children took part in the various workshops and learned a lot about Chinese culture.
